American Osteopathic Academy of Addiction Medicine

AOAAM Fellow

To be eligible for Fellowship with AOAAM, an individual must be a paid Physician Member of the organization and must possess and maintain board certification in Addiction Medicine or Addiction Psychiatry through the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), or the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM).

If you meet these criteria, please send an email to info@aoaam.org to let us know you qualify and include documentation verifying your board certification.

Members of the Fellow Committee will review all submissions, and candidates will be notified of their status via email. AOAAM will announce new Fellows each year in October.

AOAAM Distinguished Fellow

The prestigious DFAOAAM designation is awarded to a select group of AOAAM physician members in recognition of their meaningful contributions to the Academy and the field of addiction medicine.

Requirements

D.O. or M.D. degree from an accredited medical school

Possess and maintain an Addiction Medicine or Addiction Psychiatry board certification through either the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), or American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM).

Possess and maintain a primary board certification through AOA or ABMS

Candidate is an active fellow member of AOAAM and has been so for the previous 3 consecutive years preceding the application.

Must Meet Two of the Following Three Criteria

Candidates have given significant service to the AOAAM, as evidenced by serving on committees or the Board of Trustees or have provided significant assistance to the medical education mission of AOAAM by speaking and lecturing at conferences, seminars, or other designated educational formats.

Candidate has supported AOAAM by attending at least 2 AOAAM meetings in the past 3 years, or was a regular member participating in committee or board meetings for at least 3 years preceding the application

Candidate has made a significant contribution to the field of addiction medicine as determined by the board (example: mentoring, teaching, treatment, research)

Nomination Form

The nomination form is available to all eligible paid members. Members may self-nominate or nominate a peer or colleague.

Members of the Fellow Committee will review all submissions and candidates will be notified via email. AOAAM will announce the new Distinguished Fellows in October each year.
